Passau – Vienna by bike

There is probably no better way to discover Austria along the Danube.

Cycling from Passau to Vienna in a few days or a week is definitely not a bad idea at all. I did it for the very first time. Before you go the most important thing is to obtain a gel seat, waterproof outfit and waterproof bike travel bags.

The beauty of the landscape of the Danube Valley and its rich history and culture ensure that this trip is a unique experience.

I was very surprised by the beauty of Passau, the narrow streets with stunning façade details of the houses. You should also not skip the St. Stephan’s Cathedral a baroque church build in 1688 and known for its largest cathedral organ in the world.

Another nice surprise was the city of Enns, the oldest town in Austria received town privileges in 1212.

The little city of Grein was just unique with its oldest town theatre built in 1791 by Grein workers and still in its original condition. The theatre has 163 seats and the seats in the front stall have a lock in every back rest, so the seat can be fixed and blocked for the person holding the key.

I will do it again definitely because as a good food and wine lover I can not forget the local wine bar still dreaming about the perfect chocolate soufflé.

There are many places to discover along the Danube I picked only few of them hope you do not mind.:-)

Inspiration by nature

I was a little bit silent the last few days being busy to travel by bike together with my hubby from Passau to Vienna and of course also thinking about fashion even by watching ducks, suffering bad weather not mentioning my burning bottom. More of discovering the cultural riches along the Danube bike route from Passau (south-eastern Germany) to Vienna will appear in the next post.

Every time you have no idea what to wear or how to combine this and that or which colour combination is the best there is apart of fashion magazines an unlimited inspiration in the nature every day around us. I am sort of colours lover and never afraid to wear some more or less. When watching quietly ducks recently I realized they have a really cute outfit ranging from emerald-green, over deep royal blue, brown and etoupe colour finished with a vivid orange. Isn’t it a high time to look for an orange pumps or sandals to pop up my wardrobe?

For this new edition to my wardrobe I was simply inspired just on the way when passing a window of one very well-known boutique in Vienna. I have to add I usually prefer classic trousers or just jeans and at this time I decided to take a little risk and try something completely different. I used a simple Burda Pattern, thinking 2-3 hours until I over come the fear to cut the fabric (Etro satin silk with paisley print) and in few hours the pants were done a very easy piece to combine with the rest of my wardrobe, comfortable, light and perfect for summer.

Here is the result styled as a ”city” outfit. In the next post more ”casual” styling with sporty jacket.

Casual sunny day and inspiration in the window

One sunny day in the city when running home in very casual grey outfit and passing Amicis Vienna boutique windows I spotted sporty pants with paisley print and immediately know what is going to be my next sewing project. I realized there is a beautiful satin silk stretch fabric (Etro) hidden in my box ready to emerge in something beautiful. Originally I bought the fabric for dress, but after I have got inspired by the pants in the window I changed my mind. So the sporty trousers are finished. The modelling pics will follow soon. Stay tuned…:-)

Miami in May, Art Deco District

Once again it is high time apart of silk and creations of it to share another passion of mine travelling. At this time it is about Miami.
We took a stroll around the stunning Art Deco District at dusk just less than 2 hours after we landed there, because it is definitely one of the most sensational city in the country.
I have to admit this ultra-stylish section of town was more than worth it to over come any tiredness and sleep deficit.
Of course, there is more to Miami than just the Art Deco district. However for me was the first night there and very positive surprise.

All the photos you can see below were taken at Ocean drive.

A new silk addition to my wardrobe is done. A simple dress with drop shoulders and pleats at the neckline a casual day dress when worn with flip-flops and straw bag or a dressy city version shown here in my case. It is up to you which one accessories you choose.
In the photographs bellow you may discover another little silk accessories made from the same fabric as the dress ribbon scarf/twilly. I simply like my outfit complete plus this little piece of silk can highlight any outfit, embellish your beloved bag or add an extra touch to your hat or simply worn on your neck or wrist.

Silk twill scarf tunic done!

As you know I am silk maniac and of course I do also love Hermès carré but never has the courage to wear the scarf as a top (have a look here orhere) as it requires a certain body or more or less model figure, which is not my case at all. So I was lucky enough lately to find a silk twill fabric with amazing scarf pattern in the same silk twill quality as you know by Hermès and voilà my new favourite piece of silk came into existence. I have to add my friend Macs was so impressed I had to order more of the fabric, made the second one for her and now we are tunic twins.:-)

What I like about the tunic you can wear it many different ways as for example elegantly with classic trousers or more sporty with jeans or just like a beach wear…

I am a silk maniac, snob, adorin as you want.:-) I came lately across beautiful silk twill (Hermès fabric) I just could not leave it in the shop and quickly forger the other fabrics I store at home. Spring is here and the summer just around the corner so it was really easy to decide what to do with it. I opted for simple top to let the print to speak for itself, the hem of the sleeves is hand stitched and because I love some how perfection I choose the French seam for the side and shoulder seam instead of the usual one even though it means a little bit more work. I was so happy with the result, so I wore the top three times over this week.
